Do we really need to answer who will build the roads if we do not like roads? People ask me "Who will build the roads?" And they could have just Google searched it if they were even remotely serious about understanding the Libertarian viewpoint before attempting to refute it. But honestly I do not like roads. I really do not want to persuade them on how to build the roads to corporate work camps for employees that destroy the environment and are more expensive than having emergency helicopters for the hospitals and drones for package delivery. I hate insurance and pumping gasoline and having to be vigilant to drive safely with dangerous machinery that no one should be driving faster than average running speed to buy junk food to stuff their face and to get to work to pay car loans or rental fees so they can get to work and would rather get some good exercise walking

The key problem with "anarcho capitalists" (ancaps) claiming businesses have rights to do such and such is a lot of their moral claims could be true if you start with their moral axioms in a theoretical world where the state does not favor corporations and bankers and landlords and other crony capitalists but holds no validity in the present world where the state gives such people special priveleges enabling businesses to violate the very moral axioms ancaps claim with immunity from punishment by the same States that would punish non elites for doing likewise.

Among the safest chemicals in the world for humans are Oxygen, water, carbon dioxide and nitrogen these compose air and are used by most vertebrates and plants humans interact with as an essential means to maintain life in our current environment.  Carbon dioxide oxygen and water are involved in cellular respiration and photosynthesis and clearly are non toxic in most situations in every day life compared with touching or inhaling or digesting an equal quantity of more dangerous alternative chemicals to the quantity of those safer chemicals that humans regularly interact with in day to day life simply being exposed to air, eating, drinking, bathing or showering, breathing and doing other activities of daily living.   If we reduce carbon dioxide emissions in chemical based power sources carbon dioxide will be replaced with a more dangerous chemical.  Because every chemical reaction produces chemicals from other chemicals, if carbon dioxide will not be the output of a non nuclear chemical reaction, something else will.  I am not saying to burn away all the oxygen in the world until we only have carbon dioxide in the air and everyone suffocated from lack of oxygen but simply that the extent of present laws and many laws presently proposed by most of those trying to regulate carbon dioxide emissions of even a reasonable amount pose a greater danger than if no such laws were on the book as the solutions to work around reducing carbon dioxide output but still producing the same amount of power lead to more environmentally dangerous problems for humanity.  More focus should be put on restricting more dangerous chemicals rather than one of the safest chemicals in earth, carbon dioxide.

On May 3, 1886, Chicago police officers fired into a crowd of strikers at the McCormick Reaper Works, killing and wounding several men. In response, a group of anarchists met near Haymarket Square the following evening. When the police tried to disperse them, someone threw a bomb and seven officers were killed. Eight anarchists were arrested, six of whom had not been present when the incident occurred. Four were hanged, a fifth committed suicide in jail and the three others were pardoned years later.

Taxing a large geographical area now surely can be justified if it increases the profit people can make if they sell their houses and leave their neighborhood. Surely taxing a large number of people is ok if a small number of people profit off it. And it does not matter if they do not profit if they choose to stay in their own neighborhood instead of selling their house. Nor does it matter that people outside that area pay taxes and receive no benefit but people inside that tiny area get the alleged benefit. Surely the many should suffer for the benefit of the few.

Property values along the route of the new Milwaukee streetcar have increased nearly 28% since the project was approved, city officials announced Tuesday.

Values within a quarter-mile of the 2.5-mile route increased 27.9% to $3.95 billion since the Common Council approved the project in 2015, data from the city assessor's office said.

That compares with a citywide increase in values of 13.4% in the same period, the city said.

The rise in property values is important to the streetcar financing package.

SACRAMENTO – As smartphone use continues to increase in the U.S., especially among children, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) today issued guidance for individuals and families who want to decrease their exposure to the radio frequency energy emitted from cell phones. Although the scientific community has not reached a consensus on the risks of cell phone use, research suggests long-term, high use may impact human health.



"Although the science is still evolving, there are concerns among some public health professionals and members of the public regarding long-term, high use exposure to the energy emitted by cell phones," said CDPH Director and State Public Health Officer Dr. Karen Smith. "We know that simple steps, such as not keeping your phone in your pocket and moving it away from your bed at night, can help reduce exposure for both children and adults."



Cell phones emit radio frequency energy when they send and receive signals to and from cell towers, and some scientists and public health officials believe this energy may impact human health.

Meanwhile, cell phone use in the U.S. has increased dramatically in recent years. About 95 percent of Americans own a cell phone, and 12 percent rely on their smartphones for everyday Internet access. In addition, the average age when children get their first phone is now just 10 years old, and a majority of young people keep their phones on or near them most of the day and while they sleep.



"Children's brains develop through the teenage years and may be more affected by cell phone use," said Dr. Smith. "Parents should consider reducing the time their children use cell phones and encourage them to turn the devices off at night."



The new CDPH guidance includes practical steps both adults and children could take to reduce exposure to radio frequency energy from cell phones. That includes:



Keeping the phone away from the body
Reducing cell phone use when the signal is weak
Reducing the use of cell phones to stream audio or video, or to download or upload large files
Keeping the phone away from the bed at night
Removing headsets when not on a call
Avoiding products that claim to block radio frequency energy. These products may actually increase your exposure.
